80 Engineers
Onboarded
Scaled high-performing technical talent in a single quarter.
How do you scale and hire 80 rare tech team members in three months? Datagen found the answer in India, with TeamScale. This is how it happened.
Scaled high-performing technical talent in a single quarter.
From initial requirement mapping to full operational integration.
Maintained product shipping momentum during peak growth periods.
Datagen’s growth was capped by hiring.
Demand was rising, but the specialized talent it needed couldn’t be hired locally at the pace the roadmap required.
Datagen builds synthetic data and 3D AI that trains computer vision systems for autonomous vehicles, robotics and AR/VR.
The bar was high on two fronts: the scale and the skill. Datagen needed dozens of people, each with rare 3D expertise: modelling, rigging, character and animation artists, 3D generalists fluent in Maya and Unreal Engine, and 3D QA. Hiring them one at a time was slow, and each open position meant product work that wasn’t getting done.
It needed a large team, fast, with no compromise on quality.
TeamScale built the team in India around Datagen’s technology, roles and hiring bar. We defined the profile first: the experience required and the kind of engineer who would fit Datagen’s existing R&D organization.
We did the legwork. Datagen made the final calls. Every candidate passed our technical and personal assessments before Datagen met them, so its leaders spent their time only on people worth hiring.
Employment, payroll, equipment and office space were plug and play: every engineer was productive from day one. The team was fully integrated into Datagen’s existing R&D organization, working alongside its other teams as part of the company.
In three months, 80 engineers joined Datagen, roughly six hires a week and a pace the local market could not match.
As its hiring partner, TeamScale became Datagen’s growth engine: the roadmap had the people it needed, and Datagen had a major new source of R&D capacity.
Datagen gained an India operation without building an entity, an HR function or an office.
More than four years later, the team is still part of Datagen’s R&D organization, with TeamScale operating everything around it.
